Postdoctoral fellow of a research project “Centre for Recombinant Biotechnologies and Immunotherapeutics (CEREBIT)”

Postdoctoral fellow will be member of the Laboratory of Ligand Engineering at the Institute of Biotechnology (IBT) and involved in Research project BIOCEV - Research and Development of High-Affinity Binding Proteins. He/she will be responsible for the Research Plan 1 of the project CEREBIT (2018-2022) “The identification of peptide ligands of protective antibodies as a new platform of vaccines that mimic natural low immunogenic glycopeptide targets in selected viral and bacterial infections”.

The successful candidate will focus on methods of directed evolution of proteins including screening of highly complex combinatorial libraries derived from protein domain scaffolds and selection techniques to identify promising sequence variants with a potential for the stimulation of protective antibodies. He/she will be responsible for the expression and purification of binding proteins and will characterize selected variants by biochemical and biophysical methods, will test their binding properties and specificity by ELISA, competition ELISA and related techniques, and will also collaborate on design and molecular assembly of DNA vaccination constructs.

• PhD in Protein Engineering or related fields
• Experience with molecular genetics, cell biology or immunology is advantageous
• Proved history of research activities
• Publication activity in the field
• Ability to actively participate in the research program
• Excellent communication skills and teamwork
• English, written and spoken, advanced level

Workplace location: Centre of Excellence BIOCEV, Vestec, Prague West region, Czech Republic. See www.ibt.cas.cz.
